Eldbjørg Hemsing made her solo debut with Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 11. This spring she launches her first solo album, which will be followed by her second in the autumn. She has collaborated with composer Tan Dun, and the great violinist Pinchas Zukerman has said of her: ‘Such a beautiful sound! Eldbjørg is an excellent player, with really excellent musical instincts’.
At Lysøen she accompanied by the aspiring pianist Anna Federova, whose spectacular performance of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto no. 2 at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam has been seen over 15 million times on YouTube.
Together they will perform Grieg’s most ‘continental’ sonata, which is partially inspired by the Hardanger fiddle. In addition to three transcriptions of Schubert Lieder, the programme includes something from the cultural heritage of both artists: first a beautiful melody by Tchaikovsky, then mournful music by Ole Bull which nevertheless ends in virtuoso fireworks.
